What We Do
When Santa Claus comes to Bolton, who does he call for help? That would be The Bolton Kin!
In 1973, a local group that had been organizing the annual Bolton Santa Claus Parade for several years was in desperate need of additional manpower to help put on the Parade. At a Santa Claus Parade meeting that year, it was decided that it would be best for the Parade if the Kinsmen Club of Bolton were to take over the running of the Parade. And that is exactly what happened and rest is history.
Since then, the Bolton Kinsmen have worked long and hard to always make sure that Santa Claus has a grand welcome to the town. Planning for Santa’s arrival is a year-long endeavour. Working with the Town of Caledon, the OPP and raising funds help to make the Parade a success. The official Santa Claus Float is built by Club members the week before the Parade.
On the first Saturday of December, thousands of children and their parents line Highway 50 as the Parade makes its way down the centre of Bolton. As many as 55 floats representing many of the local organizations and businesses participate by entering floats into the Parade. Bands from as far away as Sudbury, Toronto and Mississauga add a musical flavour to the Parade. Certainly Santa Claus always appreciates the Bolton Kinsmen for giving him the opportunity to see all the Bolton children just before Christmas.
